TROSA has 50 staff members led by seasoned professionals and a volunteer Board of Directors.

Kevin R. McDonald, Founder, President, and CEO of TROSA
At the request of Durham business and community leaders, Kevin founded TROSA in 1994. Prior to coming to Durham, Kevin spent 12 years with the Delancey Street Foundation, a therapeutic community in San Francisco where he oversaw business ventures. He also opened and directed Delancey Street Foundation’s North Carolina facility. Immediately prior to founding TROSA, Kevin directed a program for homeless parolees in Los Angeles that assisted former gang members. Michael Keene, Vice President of Business Operations 
Michael is a graduate of the Delancey Street Foundation’s therapeutic community in Greensboro, NC. Prior to joining TROSA in 1997, Michael managed Delancey Street Movers. Michael is the force behind the success of TROSA Moving, the sixth largest moving company in the Triangle area and TROSA’s principal revenue source. Michael currently oversees TROSA Moving and Storage, TROSA Frame Shop, TROSA Christmas Tree fundraisers, and TROSA’s Yard Sale Fundraisers. Jesse Battle, Director of Men's Program
Jesse leads the men in TROSA’s program by building their ability to maintain a clean and sober lifestyle while improving their education and skills. He joined the TROSA staff soon after graduating from TROSA in 1997 and held leadership positions in many departments prior to becoming the Director of Men’s Program in 2000. He serves on the boards of Troy House Community Corrections Center, NC Alcohol and Drug Council, Durham Teen Court, Durham Drug Court, and is a North Carolina Addictions Fellow. Jesse has a BS degree and is currently pursuing an advanced degree in Mental Health Counseling. Jesse is a Certified Substance Abuse Residential Facility Director. Sandra Alger, Director of Women’s Program
Sandra joined the TROSA team in 2004. Sandra completed treatment for her own substance abuse problem in 1990 and remained at the Delancey Street Foundation for the next 12 years mentoring the female residents. Under Sandra’s leadership, the TROSA women’s program has grown significantly and we have implemented a wide array of gender-specific treatment. Karen Kelley, Director of Clinical Operations
Karen has worked at TROSA since 2004 when she began as special projects manager. In 2010, she became Director of Clinical Operations overseeing the counseling, medical, and intake departments. Prior to coming to TROSA Karen was the Administrative Director of Schoolhouse of Wonder, an environmental education organization in Durham. She has a BS degree from North Carolina State University. Jeff Stern, Director of Special Projects
Jeff has worked in the social sector for over 15 years, as a volunteer, staff member, executive director and board member. Jeff’s most recent professional experience prior to TROSA was as Director of Membership Advancement for the Museum of Life and Science and he was formerly the Executive Director of Laboratories for Learning. He also has significant experience in education working with the Durham Public Schools and the Volunteer Center of Greater Durham. Kim Chambers, Controller
Kim has worked in finance in a variety of industries (including custom homebuilding and professional sports teams) since 1995. Kim has extensive experience with audit, cash flow, and forecasting processes. She brings a particular expertise in streamlining finance procedures and became TROSA’s controller in 2011. Michelle Kucerak, Director of Development
Michelle has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 17 years and brings significant experience in organizational development, training, fundraising, and community organizing to her role at TROSA. Michelle worked with the State Public Interest Research Groups in various roles for seven years and with Refugees International for over three years, as their Director of Development and Administration. At TROSA since 2005, Michelle facilitates fundraising, government relations, and marketing efforts and has a BS from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Alan Seawell, Construction Manager
Alan has been a licensed general contractor for over 16 years and TROSA’s Construction and Property Manager since 2000. A graduate of TROSA’s program, Alan is a powerful mentor to the residents in his department, many of whom go on to work in the construction industry. Since becoming our Construction and Property Manager he has overseen tremendous growth on our campuses, including our townhouses, community center, and most recently two new 75 person dormitories.  He has also served as a Board Member of the Durham Affordable Housing Coalition. Contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Kristen Rosselli, Chief Strategy Officer
Kristen joined the TROSA team in 2012. Kristen has over 17 years of experience changing how communities work together to improve the lives of low-income families. Her areas of interest include substance abuse and mental health treatment access and options, alternatives to incarceration, re-entry, living wage employment, and educational success. Kristen previously served as Director of Community Services Department for the City of Raleigh. She also worked for the Raleigh Police Department, Jackson County Prosecutor's Office and Hallmark Cards, Inc. Kristen has an MPA from North Carolina State University.
